Paws Themes New Online Home

Someone reminded me that I hadn't officially posted the url for the Paws themes new home on the web, so here it is:

www.freewebs.com/pantherenoire

At the moment it's only the purple, pink and ocean themes, because I haven't had time yet to adjust more - first on vacation, then dealing with a cracked rib and now trying to catch up with the prolonged absense from because of all that - but I'll try to get around to the others as soon as I can . . .

And it's nice to know that my kitty paws haven't been forgotten. :)

Paw themes back online again!

Well, update at moz.org hasn't changed fromtheir retarded approval policies - whatever they may be - so I decided to call it quits there and delete all themes but one, and let that one only to redirect here.

The good news however is that I found a free website again that allows jar uploads - thank you, Charles C, for pointing me there! - so I am planning to put all the there on the web again there.

As moz.org also has upgraded to Firefox 2.0 I shall have to make adjustments again, but I hope to get the themes all back over the next few weeks.

Any comments and requests please leave here, and thank you to everybody who already did leave encouraging messages.

Good News and Bad

To start with the bad, update.mozorg is driving me crazy. I don't know what the heck it is with their (dis)organization, but I simply can't get them to accept the themes again. The jar file is there, the preview is there, but every time I resubmit the theme for approval, I get a denied message with the reason given as "no preview supplied." Well, I guess I really need to find a new website to make them available again.

The good news, well, that's personal, but I recently discovered that one of my best loved artists ever is back again after a longish absense and actually working again on a new project. May I proudly present:

And well, yes, I couldn't decide which banner I liked better, so I used both. :D

For those who don't recognize the guy in the first banner, that's Yoshiki of (unfortunately no longer existing) X Japan - while your at it, check out some of their music , too! - the orignal creator of the Japanese / Asian "Visual Kei" rock movement and leader of the most legendary band that ever was in Asia.

And slowly, the rest of the world seems to get it, too.

Resubmitting updated Paw Themes to Mozilla update.

Just a fast update: I am working again on adjusting all the Paw themes and have started resubmitting some to Mozilla update - so far, just the purple and pink gardation backgrounds ones. They are currently awaiting approval and I hope they'll soon be available again.

Unfortunately, their new system for submission seems to require the deletion of the previous file and that also deletes all comments on that (I made a private copy of the comments page for myself, tough). It's a bit sad for the nice ones I got, though I have to say I don'tunderstand some people: constructive criticism I like, but what's the point of someone saying "I don'tlike those colours" or "this is too cute" or similar stuff that is of zero use? And if they don't like it, why don't they just ignore it?

Oh, and if someone knows of a good free - preferably advertising free - free webhost or file sharing site, I'd much appreciate information about that, since I would like to create an alternative "kitty basket" (= home on the web) for the Paws to download.

Glory Days for FireCat Paw theme fans!!!

Thanks to the help of slowburn - see here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=384435 - I have been basically able to fix the dratted Options Panel problem and will now need only a bit of fiddling and fixing to adjust for my own colours, so the paw themes should soon be available for the use with Firefox 1.5!!!

Firefox Paws Themes

I don't know if anyone of the Fire-cat-fox fans will be reading this, but for all who want the Paws themes updated, I am working on it.

It would have been an easy update if the people at moz.org hadn't changed the layout of the options panel, which now isn't working within the theme. If anyone wants it even though that place it at the moment broken, please email me - panthere.noire-at-gmail.com - and let me know what colour(s) you want and I'll email them back. I'm currently trying to find out how to fix the options panel thing, but unfortunately I'm not very good with the non-graphics part of skinning. But I promise I'll update the theme ASAP.

Happy New Year again

On a technical note, the images on the blog are scaled to fit the page, but clicking them will show them in full size.

The text on both is the traditional Japanese New Years greeeting of

Akemashite, omedetou gozaimasu.
Kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegai moushiagemasu.
Heisei juhachinen gantan

Which roughtly transalates as

On the opening - start, beginning (of the year) - humble congratulations.
This year as well I beg you will extend me your favour.
18th year of the Heisei reign, New Year's Day

And with that, even though posted a little early, Happy New Year, everybody! :)

Panthere Noir

PS: It's the Year of the Dog next year in the Chinese zodiac, therefore the canines: (artic) wolves, or an adult and a wolf pup, rather than domesticated dogs, because I find them more powerful and appealing . . .
