Firefox finds support

In a developement that I like very much, Firefox is starting to attract support from outside the immediate Firefox community, from website and businesses who so far only supported ad ons for IE, as this article shows. One of them, Bloglines, features a very nice large Firefox graphic on their main page for their Firefox Support Center, and while smaller, Vivisimo has a prominent link to their newly offered Firefox Bar on their Clusty search page. Good signs that the Firefox adoption into the general webpopulation is well under way, since sites as such do not produce that kind of user service unless the believe that their is both a market and a demand for them.

Equally pleasant it was to see that the well known and highly popular British
Guardian newspaper actually devoted a leader to Firefox, and it's importance both as an alternative browser to IE and it's general importance for the Open Source movement, for it's full version release.

PS: For those who would like to install Firefox but don't feel confident to do so without help - or those who'd like to know a little more about it's features - this Introduction to Firefox should be of help.

Could you please (PLEASE) stop spamming the Firefox Themes page with endless versions of your FireCat theme?

With the release of Firefox 1.0, many new users are going to go to the Themes page, and when they see 32 different versions of FireCat theme, they will think that we (you) are all a bunch of losers.

The only losers I can see anywhere around here is one gutless boy wonder that doesn't have the rudimentary manners - never mind courage - to put his name to his comments. Firefox is better of without users like you, and if I have achieved that with the themes I'll have done it and the community a favour.

I'm not going to gripe about your skins. Some people like cats, that's fine. Some people want a cat-themed browser, that's cool by me too. Some people want it in a different color to go with every day of the week -- okay, it's not for me, but that's fine too. Thousands of people have downloaded your skins, which is wonderful.

But, as a Firefox user, I at least want the skins to be labelled appropriately. There is an "Animals" category for the Firefox themes. I'm personally not interested in animal-themed browsers, so I'll know not to look in that category. As others have said, of course your contributions are more than welcome. I'll be keeping a watch for your Theme How-To, as I would like to make/update some themes myself. But it is a pain to browse through the Miscellaneous category and have 2 full pages taken up by versions of FireCat. Please do everybody a favor by moving the FireCat themes to the "Animals" category.

Hi wbwither,

could you please go and send your comments regarding the appropriate categorization of themes to the guy who's in charge of mozilla update now?

Because I completely agree with you that ther paws themes ought to be in the animal category. Unfortunately, the change planned by the former administrator, which would have allowed contributors to manage their themes and extensions themselves, was never implemented, and it seems that the new main admininistrator isn't quite up to his job . . .
Well, he actually wasn't up to his job when he was only one of the moderators under the old main administrator, so why the moz foundation guys gave him the job after they decided they didn't like the old leaders anymore is a mystery to me. :P
